Run for the hills 6.6% US IPA Run for the Hills is what we did when the earthquake struck Kaikoura in Nov 2016! It shook our whole world so it was appropriate that we shake yours with this beer that is full of Chinook, Simcoe, & Motueka hops. Tasting notes from Tim Newman..."Grapefruit and orange citrus aromas with a hint of pine and malty richness. Chewy malt gives way to apricot, more grapefruit and some distant spice. Finishes long and firmly bitter"
Angry Sky 6% Red IPA A New Zealand Red IPA made with Gladfields malt, showcasing the colour effects of Shepherds Delight. Filled out with juicy New Zealand hops Nelson Sauvin, Kohatu, Styrian Golding & Wai-iti
Amerikouran 5.2% APA Tasting notes from Tim Newman... "Bright tropical and white grape aromas with a mild biscuity grain. Ripe, refreshing on the palate with more tropical fruit and citrus flavours, finishes clean and bitter"
Get to da choppa 4.2% Wit Bier 1 of 3 classic styles available on Friday sessions. A traditional Witbier made with coriander and a selection of summer citrus fruits. Inspired by our Austrian friend Phil who runs the Slamclub in Kaikoura
Psychopomp 6% Saison 2 of 3 classic styles available on Friday sessions. A classic saison. Light and fruity with a touch of spice from the addition of rye malt. And for those curious, the meaning of Psychopomp is - (in Greek mythology) a guide of souls to the place of the dead
Beginners Luck 6.7% Weizenbock 3 of 3 Classic styles on Friday sessions. This is a rebrew of Laura's award winning beer that won the singles comp at Brewmania (the brewcomp at the NZHC) Comes highly recommended by John Palmer "I really enjoyed it" so get your taste buds around this beer and toast to Laura's first ever all grain batch!
Schni Schna Schnappi 5.8% Marzen 1 of 3 classic styles on Saturday sessions. A malty German style amber lager. Sing along with the Krokodil (crocodile), everybody... Schni schna schnappi, Schnappi schnappi schnapp. Schni schna schnappi, Schnappi schnappi schnapp.
Dubbel Helix 7.1% Dubbel 2 of 3 classic styles on Saturday sessions. A lovely malt base with hints of Belgian yeast funk over the top. At 7.5% it is sure to warm your cockles
Breath of Columbanus 9.8% Tripel 3 of 3 classic styles on Saturday sessions. A classic take on a Belgian Tripel. Big fruity nose with the malt to back it up. We use local honey and it gives this beer a distinct flavour and initial sweetness which gives way to a dry finish. Floral hops are also present alongside the characteristic spicy, fruity esters from the Belgian yeast
Imperial Apfelstrudel 9.2% Imperial Stout We ramped up the ABV on our house favourite Apfelstrudel. The base stout is a kviek fermented Imperial stout that had local coffee added to the boil, and was then aged in bourbon barrels for a year before we added all the fun ingredients of Apple strudel
Sourtopf 5.2% Fruited sour Our take on a Rumtopf. A Golden sour that was aged in Pinot Noir barrels that we then added fruits as they came into season through the summer. So cherries, apricots, raspberries, black boy peaches and feijoas. The beer starts with a assertive sourness which scrubs from the pallet quickly allowing a light summer fruit finish
Out of Space 6.6% Hazy IPA At the time of writing (21st July) I had only brewed it yesterday, that is how fresh it is! We had just bought a bunch of US & Aussie hops so in went El Dorado, Topaz, Loral and Mosaic. All of our Hazies are named after songs, this one is a Prodigy banger from the 90's!
Original Prankster 4.5% Pale ale A soft, hazy pale ale. Full of cryo Loral, some hallertau blanc and a big dose of new season Nelson Sauvin. Full on fruit attack and name after The Offspring song
Cultured left foot 6% ESB Served on the beer engine. Named after England left back Luke Shaw's left foot. Sadly it couldn't quite win the trophy, but it is a damn fine left foot nether the less. This is a traditional English style beer. Lots of malt with a slightly biscuity roast character on the end and some floral hops in the mid palate.
Icy Weizy 8.5% Ice distilled Weizenbock A beervana only special. We took our Weizenbock and ice distilled it to condense the flavours, and Alcohol, even further
