|Stonecutter||7%||38 IBU||Scotch ale||Multi award winning Stonecutter Scotch Ale is the big, hearty, ‘red wine’ of our range. The Scotch Ale style is believed to have originated in Edinburgh in the 18th century and is colloquially known as "wee heavy" due to its higher strength than its paler siblings. As one of the first beers that Andy brewed at the Dodson Street brewery, it is a doff of the cap to his family heritage of the Deuchars Clan who hail from Eastern Scotland. We use nine malts blended together to produce layers of caramel, toffee, liquorice, chocolate and roasty flavours. These layers are balanced by a tart, raisiny fruitiness that gradually gives way to give this dark beer a lingering dry finish.|
|Rauchbier||5.3%||24 IBU||German Smoked lager||Bacon! You know what goes with everything? BACON. Our German-style smoked lager is a well-rounded platter of malty sweetness and smokey seduction. It's smooth. It's dark. It's handsome. This beer could probably be caught enjoying an evening cigar by the fire while contemplating the works of Fredrick Nietzsche. While we didn't actually put bacon in our beer we hope your imagination will make you think of that delicious breakfast meat candy. Food pairing: food. (Smoked Meats, grilled veggies, bacon)|
|Geen Hop Nodig||8.1%||10 IBU||Gruit||Geen Hops Nodig Is a Gruit, gruit is an old world beers style that dates back to before the 15th century before hops were used in beer, Instead herbs and spices were used In their place. This beer was brewed in collaboration with our good friends at Altitude Brewing. For this beer we have brewed up a Belgian Strong Golden ale and then tweaked it for a full on experience. Partially soured and then blended back together and aged in Chardonnay barrels for 4 months. We have added Peaches and Nectarines for flavour and Juniper and Lavender for aromatics. Tart, herbaceous, fruity and complex.|
|Boom!||8.3%||100 IBU||Double IPA||Here at Renaissance we are better known for our more British style ales and the use of New Zealand ingredients. But every now and again we like to mix it up and make different styles of beer and experiment with different ingredients. The growth of craft beer in the USA has been driven very much by the style of beer that Boom! is trying to emulate here. The West Coast IPA. These West Coast IPAs tend to be hop forward and large ABV pale ales. Boom! is unmistakably an American style Double IPA. It has a light but balanced malt body from British and German malts. But really it is the hops that do the talking in a beer like this. They produce flavours of citrus, stone and tropical fruits that are balanced with pine notes followed by a big hit of long lingering bitterness. BOOM!|
|Black hole||7.5%||17 IBU||Milk stout||Come with us on a decadently dark voyage through the black hole and experience the voluptuously full-bodied flavor explosion as all the adjuncts come together for a beautifully executed Chocolate berry stout. all the ingredients were lost on the way to the brewery only to turn up the day before. This milk stout then seemed to become a bigger black hole as it sucked in a huge amount of time and effort. Fermented in ex Pinot Noir Barrels it was split; and 1/3rd of the barrels added NZ Raspberries, another 1/3rd Peruvian Coca Nibs, and the last 1/3rd whole Ethiopian Coffee Beans. But the effort was worth it; full bodied rich and depending on your preference, we have our Coffee version for the early risers, our Berry version for the health conscious, and our Chocolate version for the most decadent among us. This beer is brewed in collaboration with our good friends at B Effect brewing.|
|5th Element Choc porter with chilies||6%||porter||chocolate porter infused with chili made for beervana 2018|
