In 2011, Black Dog Brew Co. was conjured up and cross bred in the heart of Wellington, the craft beer capital of New Zealand. Since then the brewers have been doing something a little special, a little different and having some fun smashing opposites along the way. Along with long-time favourite brews, we like to keep things limited.
Sleep with one eye open, because the occasional rare breed of brew will pop up. Introducing the new breeds of brewing - experiential and permanent ranges - get them while they're hot!

|Chomp||4.8%||NZ Pale Ale||Chomp is a New Zealand pale ale, and in true kiwi style it’s the best of both worlds – well rounded and free from frills and feathers. Starting with hints of orange and tropical fruit flavours, it’ll then snap at you with a touch of toothy bitterness, all backed up with a subtle Pacifica and Motueka hop flavour. Enjoy the taste, mind the teeth.|
|Dogfather||6.4%||APA||We blended both American Citra & American Amarillo hops to create this well-balanced hoppy APA. With citrus attributes from the Citra hop biting on your tongue, you will then have the balance of stone fruits sliding on through with passionfruit and a hint of Juicy Fruit gum from the Amarillo hop.|
|Hop Boxer||5.6%||Fresh Hop IPA||Like the smell of an oily locomotive rag…but in a good way! This fresh hop IPA was brewed as part of the Hopstock 2018 fresh hop festival and uses 100% Riwaka hops – picked fresh and brewed with on the same day. The resulting beer has a pungent, earthy green hop aroma with a bitter orange marmalade and citrus character. The first taste reveals flavours of orange zest and pine with a pronounced oily, resinous character. Finish on this beast is crisp and dry with an assertive bitterness, punching well above its weight.|
|Carrot Top||5.4%||US Amber Ale||This crisp brew is a malt-forward American Amber Ale, well balanced with sturdy hop bitterness and flavour to keep it on an even keel. Instantly refreshing with a long dry finish, this is a great beer for those looking for drinkability but still craving full hop flavour.|
|Kitsune||7%||NZ IPA||This NZ hopped IPA has a very subdued malt character to really help showcase the Rakau, Nelson Sauvin & Pacifica hops used. The lovely soft bitterness from a minimal first wort hop addition helps carry the citrusy notes of orange & mandarin, resulting in a crisp & clean finish & a lingering hop flavor.|
|Bean Me Up||7.6%||Imperial Mocha Stout||Brewed in collaboration with Havana Coffee Works and Wellington Chocolate Factory, this Imperial Stout is the coming together of three of Wellington’s favourite goods – beer, coffee & chocolate. Smooth & creamy with a massive chocolate & coffee hit.|
|Shadowsoul||7.4%||NZ IPA||This IPA is brewed with three American hop heavyweights - Citra, Mosaic & Simcoe, and weighs in at a fairly assertive 7.4%. Bursting with a tropical and stone fruit character, rounded off with a touch of citrus, this promises to be a real crowd pleaser over the summer months. Bitterness is low, softened by a minimal bittering hop addition and the use of flaked oats which also helps to produce a lovely tight head and creamy mouthfeel – surprisingly easy to drink for its strength.|
