Beervana Road to Beervana

Panhead is New Zealand's very own craft brewing monster truck rally, putting the frighteners on anyone who thinks beer should mind its own business and cower behind the wine rack. Launched in 2013 out of the old Dunlop tyre factory in darkest Maidstone, we were embraced enthusiastically from the get go by Wellington's beer cognoscenti of beardy app developers, design grads and contractors from the Ministry of Social Development. Starting with four stock beers of spot-hitting quality and consistency it wasn't long before we were turning out hopped-up, weirded-out specials every other week just to sate the demand of a public who wanted their taste buds destroyed with every pint. With a formidable reputation earned first as a home brewer and then commercially, Chief Beer Engineer Mike Neilson employs a resourcefulness honed building hot rods to strip back, rebuild and pimp out a beer anyway he sees fit. The country's finest brew crew is there to make it happen and maintain Panhead's legendary reputation for quality and consistency.

While we'll always call Upper Hutt home, Panhead knows that crappy beer is an international problem so we're colonising the globe as fast as we can. Australia has got the message already. Rest of the World, you've been warned.

Hex Breaker 7% 50 IBU Swamp Ale This beer pours a deep red colour with a rich mouthfeel. Savoury flavours abound. Think bloody Mary with a hint of spice.

Mojo Hand 8.5% 70 IBU Arachnid Stout Fancy a beer where the malt has been smoked with Tarantulas and Scorpion? This Imperial Stout packs a punch with coffee dark fruit characters.
Li Grande Zombi 11% 60 IBU Barleywine Big Barlywine with exotic spices such as Star Anise and Cardamon. Beware of the charms of Li Grande Zombi
Batch 32 6.5% 37 IBU Hazy IPA Pouring a cloudy gold with a thick creamy head. This beer is like being smashed in the face with a bowl of fruit salad and probably contains your five plus a day (no scientific evidence of this)
