Beervana information and FAQ

General Information

How do I get beer? All beer will be served in the official Beervana glass in a 75ml taster or 250ml serve. No gluten-free beer is available, but there are cider, mead and ginger beer available. All food is clearly marked if it is GF or not. All bars will close 30 minutes before the session ends.

Non-alcs and Under 18? A selection of non-alcoholic drinks will be made available at Beervana, including bottled water and coffee. Water Warriors will also be located throughout the venue. Everyone will be ID'd if you look under 25, as per the law. If you are under 18 you will be given an orange wristband that you will be able to purchase food and non-alcs. This is a child-friendly event if you wish to bring your child that is A-OK! If they're obviously a child, we won't wristband them, but if they're in their teens, we may need to give them an orange U18 wristband.

About Beervana tickets? Be aware, Beervana sessions do sell out, so get your tickets early. There will be door sales on the day for the sessions that haven't sold out. If you want to exchange your session ticket please email

How do I pay for my beer, food and merch? No cash is accepted over the bars or at the food vendors. Beervana dollars loaded on the wristband (that will be given to you upon entrance) are the only accepted form of payment. Festival currency can be bought by cash, credit and debit card at the available Beervana Banks, there is one outside of the concourse for you to top up before the sessions start. If you have purchased a preloaded wristband this will be given to you once you have presented your ticket. You can top it up with extra Beervana dollars after you are through the turnstiles.

What about refunds? Refunds for unused dollars are available at the Beervana Dollars banks at the entrance and are available until the close of sessions. For two weeks post-event you can get your refund (or give it to charity). Link to be shared closer to the event.

Can I leave my stuff somewhere? There is a coat check, but this is at your own risk. For access questions please contact the Stadium at

Beervana and the Wellington Culinary Events Trust takes the health and welfare of our audiences, exhibitors, staff and crew very seriously. We are communicating closely with the venue, key advisers and the WCET board. As of right now, Beervana will go ahead as scheduled.

Beervana is following the Ministry of Health's advice. That information, including advice on attending public events, can be found here.

Beervana can run under Alert Level Orange.

As a responsible host, we will have a variety of health and safety protocols (eg contact tracing, hand sanitiser and glass washing stations) in place for your safety and comfort. Attending breweries will also have additional cleaning protocols in place.

We are optimistic that New Zealand will continue to successfully manage the pandemic and that Beervana can take place in August.

We will make a decision about whether Beervana goes ahead well in advance of the festival dates so attendees and exhibiting breweries can plan accordingly.

At Orange there are no restrictions on mass gatherings therefore Beervana can go ahead.

You can book your tickets with the confidence you will be refunded if Beervana is cancelled due to either:

  • Cancellation by the event organiser
  • If we are to go back into any official lockdown levels beyond ORANGE which restricts travel in and out of regions that may affect you personally.

Please be mindful however that Beervana tickets cannot be refunded due to a change of mind.
